We watched a video of a fish market in Manhattan. What so interesting about this fish market is the happy attitude of the workers in one of the fish stall over there. They are happy because they believe in these principle :-
#1 - PLAY (they look at their place as a place where they are having fun with colleague or customer)
#2 - MAKE THEIR DAY (for the customer)
#3 - BE THERE (for the customer)
#4 -CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE (you wanna be happy or miserable, you decide)
This is just a tiny bits of the contents from my OPP class. The lecturer, a Mr Guy from UK who is an Organizational psychologist by profession. He know the subject very well and how to make a 11-hour long lecture passed so quickly and entertainingly enough without jeopardizing the course objectives.
Our first group assignment was to choose one industry in Malaysia and then to come up with the business pressure for that particular industry followed by the strategic response and lastly the HRM factors. I'm at lost in the beginning but quickly managed to catch up and contribute. Due to my status as a junior (the others have already done more than 5 modules), so I and another junior were 'bullied' into presenting the case study....hehehehe. In the end, our group end up with the highest mark (not bad for a first day eh??).
So, need to do some reading and revision. I borrowed my first book from the library and managed to get the last book that was highly recommended by Mr Guy (the library only have 2). Lucky me...Yippieee!!!!
